 Welcome
I'm sure most here will agree, that your dollars are best spent on a higher quality skimmer. I recently purchased a SWC Xtreme Cone Skimmer for my 120 and this thing cranks.   I had a ASM G-3 for several years and was very happy with it, and it also was a mid-range priced skimmer.  This is something that you have to do your reserch on.  Maybe start here:

Best of luck with your reef endeavors and hope to see you at our next meeting comeing up real soon!!

Your coralline algae coverage is very impressive. What kind of light are you using?

Most of the rocks that are covered in coralline were purchased that way. I'm getting a little to grow here and there but I think I'm going to need to start feeding the tank calcium for better growth.

I'm running a Coralife T5 HO with a 10,000k and Actinic.

Just to update everyone who offered advice on a skimmer.

I just picked up an AquaticLife 115 Mini Protein Skimmer. I read nothing but good reviews about them. I've got it in the tank breaking in  WOOT!

Yes the seaclone skimmer is a poor skimmer, and there are definately much better ones out there.  For those  of us that already have the skimmer, I dont see any logical reasons to just get rid of it, unless you have ability to simply spend the money and replace the unit.  The older sea clone units were put together with rubber o rings that could lead to them leaking yes.  The newier ones are completely sealed units, which a much better chance of not leaking  (not trying to jinx anyone or say it will never leak).  Any kind of skimming imo is better than no skimming.  When I first started I didnt run a skimmer at all for quite a while, and can see a small difference with running a skimmer.  There are some mods that you can do very very cheap that will allow you to gain some perfomance from this skimmer.

Bottoms line, these skimmers are poor and cheap, but do produce skimmate.  If you can replace it do, if you cant then do all you can to make it the most effective skimmer you can.

I have to chime in because I ran a sea clown for two years and was impressed. Most of you really want growth fast and spend $$$ for the lights  and the skimmers and .ect. My point is for some one with a 30 gallon tank with a couple softies and some lps, clown ect... And dont plan on fragging every month those small cheap skimmers work well enough.Period. There isnt a lot of people who can justify spending  more than $150. when just getting in this hobby. There isnt a lot of choices in this market for under a $150.oo HOB. I am happy that I switched up to an Eshopps 75 its made much batter with a bubble plate and mesh mod although there is no adjustments  to be made. You can search e-bay like i did and buy a like new one for about $35.00 like a did , while new ones are $150.00.As far as the skimmate, its a lot darker and much more productive with the eshopps,But my sea clown never leaked after I changed the .99 cent O -ring with a new one from home depot
